Children's Dentistry

Kids love us! Our dentists and staff members are gentle and caring. Whether it is a child's first appointment, routine check ups, fillings or more complex work, our staff looks after the child so well, that the children look forward to their dental visits. We understand how important it is for the kids to trust their dentist and build a positive relationship with them from early on.

Routine check ups and cleans- Routine check ups and cleans are extremely important for kids. Compared to adult teeth, baby teeth are more susceptible to decay because they have a thinner layer of enamel (the hard outer surface of the teeth). Regular checks can catch any decay starting, early and thus prevent bigger problems. We can also check the teeth eruption, position and jaw growth at every visit, to assess for any need for orthodontic treatment. The dentists also teach the kids the right way to brush and floss their teeth, form good dietary habits and thus pave the way for good oral health throughtheir lives.

Restorations- Fillings maybe needed for decayed teeth or hypomineralised teeth and this can be done in the most atraumatic ways. We use different methods to make our little patients comfortable during these procedures, including numbing creams, local anesthetics, happy gas, etc. Fissure sealants can be done to seal the deep grooves and fissures on teeth, if the dentists think these may help prevent cavities in the future.

Extractions- Sometimes teeth may need to be pulled out if they are badly decayed or are loose but not falling out on their own. Sometimes extractions are also needed for orthodontic reasons, to create room for the adult teeth to line up. We carry out all simple extractions at our practice and employ certified specialist dentists for all complex procedures.

Specialists- We work closely with the best pediatric dentists in Sydney and may sometimes refer our patients to them if the child requires extensive treatment that cannot be comfortably performed in a general practice setting. We also work alongside some of the most experienced  orthodontists on the Northern Beaches, to achieve best results for our pediatric patients. It is recommended that all children aged 7 years or over, should have an orthodontic assessment as soon as possible. We assess if the child will be a good candidate for early intervention and refer our patients to the orthodontists. This helps in preventing costly and lengthy orthodontic work in their teenage years.

Sports mouthguards- Well fitted mouthguards can be made for all types of contact sports. What's even better is that the child can pick the colour of his mouthguard.

CDBS - The Child Dental Benefits Schedule provides eligible families with children aged 2-17 years access to a range of dental services. If you are eligible, we are able to bulk bill services for up to $1000 over a 2 year period.
