Comprehensive check ups and Cleans

Prevention is better than cure. Regular dental check ups are the key to maintaining oral health and addressing any issues that may arise between appointments. We give you a thorough check up as well as clean and polish your teeth. Dental X-rays are required to accurately diagnose and treat dental problems before they become more serious.

Oral hygiene visits are typically scheduled for every six months to help prevent many of the problems that lead to decay and tooth loss, and is important in the early diagnosis and treatment of gum disease.

Restorative Treatments

Fillings

A composite (tooth coloured) filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc.  The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then filled with a composite filling.

There are many types of filling materials available, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.  You and your dentist can discuss the best options for restoring your teeth. Composite fillings are the most widely used today. Because composite fillings are tooth coloured, they can be closely matched to the colour of existing teeth, and are more aesthetic. Composite fillings also bond to the tooth structure enabling us to be very conservative with the tooth preparation.

Crowns

A crown maybe required for fractured teeth, cosmetic enhancement, or to protect a root canal treated teeth. A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size.  A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.

There are several types of crowns and your dentist will be able to discuss what is best for you.

Inlays/onlays

Inlays and onlays are custom-made fillings mostly made of tooth-colored porcelain. It is made by a professional dental laboratory and is permanently cemented onto the tooth by your dentist.

Inlays/onlays are an ideal alternative to crowns (caps) because less tooth structure is removed in their preparation and hence we can conservatively repair large defects.

Veneers

Dental veneers are wafer thin, custom made shells of porcelain or composite, that are bonded to the front surfaces of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

Bridges

Dental bridges are fixed restorations made to replace one or more missing teeth. If you are a good candidate for a dental bridge, your dentist will be able to explain the different materials used and the process involved in getting a dental bridge.

Implants

Implants are currently the most successful long term procedure in dentistry. If you are missing a tooth or several teeth, a dental implant may be a viable option to improve aesthetics and function. We refer our patients to a dedicated implant specialist to place the titanium screw in the bone and  then we organise the porcelain crown to be placed on top.

Root Canal Therapy

If the pulp tissue (nerve and blood vessels) of a tooth becomes infected due to decay or trauma, a root canal treatment may be a necessary option to save the tooth. We perform root canal treatments with the latest technology to ensure the best possible outcome for your tooth. We take the time to explain the procedure and treatment options.

Extractions

We perform minor oral surgery procedures such as removing teeth under local anaesthetic. We also have nitrous oxide gas available when required. We understand that having a tooth out can be a very daunting experience and we try to be as gentle as possible. If you require more complex procedures we can arrange a specialist oral surgeon to perform these for you. Before you have a tooth taken out we are happy to discuss the options for replacement by means of an implant, bridge work or a denture.

Sports Mouthguards, Dentures, Night Splints

We make customized sports mouth guards for kids as well as adults, that help protect your teeth and jaw while you enjoy contact sports.

When you lose a tooth and can’t have bridges or implants, dentures maybe a solution. Removable dentures are an affordable way to replace missing teeth.

An Occlusal splint (also called a nightguard) is a custom molded hard plastic appliance that fits over the teeth. It is designed to protect your natural teeth and restorations from wear and cracking due to clenching and grinding habits [Bruxism] and relieve muscle tension and painful joint symptoms.
